NE Firm’s Sponsorship Drives To Success

John Kirk winning the Scottish Motocross Federation Championships

An Aberdeenshire teenager, sponsored by a North-east green recycling firm, has won this year’s Scottish Motocross Federation Championships.

John Kirk, 18, from Auchterless, took pole position in the national semi experts competition following a season of racing across Scotland.

The teenager, backed by Keenan Recycling, secured the title following the final day on the track in Elgin over the weekend (15/16 September).

Brothers Grant and Gregor Keenan, who run the New Deer organics recycling company, are both keen motorcyclists and were trackside to watch the champion race to victory.

Managing Director, Grant Keenan, said:

“It was thrilling to see John secure the championship and we are delighted to have supported him this season. It’s the second year in a row that we have sponsored John and it’s been great to see him progress over the months to become a champion, proving that his hard work and training has all been worthwhile.”

The Scottish Motocross Championships consists of six rounds with races taking part across Scotland. The first round of the competition got into gear in Tain in March, with other races taking place in Rhynie in Aberdeenshire, as well as in the Borders.

John has competed competitively in the sport since he was six years old. He said:

“The on going sponsorship from Keenan Recycling proved a real incentive to help me focus on winning the championship this year. It was quite tough racing this time as the tracks are some of the best in Scotland. Winning the semi experts is a really good stepping stone for my career and it allows me to compete at the very highest level in Scotland and move into the national class.”

Keenan Recycling transforms food and garden waste into compost at a £5m facility near New Deer in Aberdeenshire. The award-winning site deals with tens of thousands of tonnes of food and green waste from local authorities all over Scotland and also offers a recycling service to businesses and food processors with green targets.
